I'm a writer, author, and editor based in Alaska. My writing focuses on business, technology, travel, food, books, music, crafts, creative nonfiction, and poetry, and I also provide copy editing, technical editing, technical writing, and book development services.
My work has appeared in Gastro Obscura, Alaska Magazine, The Atlantic, Narratively, O: The Oprah Magazine, Creative Nonfiction, Entrepreneur, TechNewsWorld, E-Commerce Times, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, The Kenyon Review Online, Zone 3, The Ilanot Review, Silk Road Review, The Pinch, and other publications. I'm the author of a memoir, Fiddle: One Woman, Four Strings, and 8,000 Miles of Music (Citadel-Kensington, 2010); a full-length poetry collection, Raising (Clare Songbirds Publishing House, 2018); and several poetry chapbooks, including The Village (Aldrich Press-Kelsay Books, 2017), Making (Origami Poems Project, 2018), Curiosities (Unsolicited Press, 2018), Spells of the Apocalypse (Thirty West Publishing, 2020), and Birch Songs (Origami Poems Project, 2022).
I have a Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, specializing in modern American literature and culture, and I'm an associate professor emerita of English at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio.
